Ever since the foundation of the Zejtun Band Club in 1933, members of the club worked hard to entertain Zejtun people with fireworks. In the late 1930’s the Zejtun Band Club officially requested permission to build a fireworks factory, but this request was rejected. In 1990 members of the club were pioneers in the foundation of the 25th November fireworks factory. At the same time, supporters of the Zejtun Band Club were working hard to achieve their biggest wish for the feast of St. Catherine in Zejtun that is to be celebrated in summer instead of the wet days of November. In fact they succeeded and from here onwards, the fireworks group had more to look forward to and grew stronger more than ever.
Today the feast of St. Catherine of Alexandria in Zejtun is celebrated on the third Sunday of June and the fireworks group work hard each year to entertain people with their spectacular shows. Their main works include mechanical ground displays and the pyrotechnical music show. Each year members of this group work hard to astonish people with their work and maintain the highest level achieved.
